He takes 2,000 bus rides in 2 weeks

START, stop, start, stop.

Most of us are familiar with bus journeys.

But to do this 2,000 times in two weeks just to win a $248 iPod nano?

'It was not the monetary value of the prize but the challenge,' said undergrad Kim Leng Gan, 27. 'I wanted as many points as possible to win.'

He rode buses for 12 hours a day from noon till the last bus after midnight, averaging 140 bus rides a day.

This guy is simply too "Eng" to be true! Riding an amazing 2000++ bus trips just to get a FREE iPod nano! And he is quoted saying:

"It was not the monetary value of the prize but the challenge."

What a joke.. Not for monetary value of the prize? C'mon, stop kidding me and people with common sense. If there isn't any monetary prize, will he ever pick up the so-called "challenge" ? Clocking average of 140 bus trips daily is not easy. If not driven by the lucative prize, I doubt any one will do such thing to challenge him/herself.

'Basically, I had no life. Most of my friends wouldn't want to spend so much time doing that,' he said.

I really must agreed with his statement. No life - perfectly described his behaviour. Lets do a simply maths to see how much can one earn by working part time in 2weeks.

$6/hr
8 hrs per day
4 hrs of OT per day
10 working days
10 x (8 x 6 + 4 x 6 x 1.5) = 840

A person can earn himself a sum of $840 in 2 weeks! Comparing to $248 worth of prize? Which action is more worthy? To me, I would definitely contribute to the Singapore's Economy by working part time for 2 weeks than wasting the fuel of SBS buses and did nothing constructive. Can't an Engineering student do such a simple multiplication maths problem?

Anyway, I must salute to his perserverance in achieving 2000++ bus trips in 2 weeks.
